Tonight, Bush will make his last ‘State of the Union’ address. The thrust of the speech? The Union just might be strong enough to survive 8 years of complete and total mismanagment, unprecedented corruption and ridiculous assertions of presidential power. But we still have to wait about a year to find out–so no guarantees people.
By this point it should be obvious that there really is nothing that conservatives are even marginally good at. Even supposed strengths are actually weaknesses. For an example look no further than the hopelessly moribund economy. National security . . . not so much. Limited government . . . umm, really? Did you actually say that with a straight face? Small government meet record deficit. Moral leadership? Not there is anything wrong with the scandals we’ve had lately but sometimes I find myself wistfully yearning for a simpler time when “sex scandal” meant a married man and a younger woman. We’ve also had corruption in spades. (see: Abramhof, Jack; Stevens, Ted; etc.)
Well, the grand experiment with the Grand Old Party was a failure. In 2000, conservatives were given reign over every branch of government simultaneously and it has been an unmitigated disaster. So . . .
Take a deep breath everbody. It will be over soon.

Holy god that’s pretty funny… but sad at the same time.
“Holy god that’s pretty funny… but sad at the same time.”
That’s pretty much how it is tho ain’t it. Laugh or cry… or in our case laugh and cry.
